From the Founder

My name is Mya, and I am the proud founder of The Empowering Scents. I started my business back in 2023, at the start of sixth form. I was going through a lot at home and I craved something positive to help me cope while navigating through it. What began as a quiet distraction soon grew into something so much bigger. Now I have completed my A-levels, and I am now running my passion as my full-time job.

What sets us apart is our deep commitment to sustainability. While many candle brands use plastics and harmful ingredients, we focus on eco-conscious materials. For example, we use biodegradable, compostable, and recycled packaging wherever possible. For every order placed, a mangrove tree is planted in Madagascar through our partnership with Earthly.

  • At the heart of my brand is a commitment to giving back. Through our partnership with Earthly, we actively support Mangrove reforestation efforts in Madagascar with the Eden Reforestation Projects. Mangroves are vital for carbon sequestration, wildlife habitats, and coastal protection, making them an essential part of restoring our planet. Since 2007, this initiative has planted over 300 million trees, and I am honored to be part of this mission.

This initiative serves two crucial purposes: promoting biodiversity and reducing our carbon footprint as a business. Mangrove trees play a vital role in coastal ecosystems, providing habitats for numerous species and serving as a natural barrier against erosion and storms. Additionally, they are highly effective at sequestering carbon dioxide, helping to mitigate the effects of climate change. Furthermore, for orders exceeding £50, we will plant five mangrove trees, amplifying our efforts to contribute positively to the environment and foster sustainable practices in our business operations.
